MIBR gets a new look for 2026
MIBR's 2025 season was significantly more convincing than previous campaigns, marked by two third-place finishes in VCT Americas and a top-six result at VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris. The Brazilian organisation, which has finally re-established itself as a regular presence at the top of the regional standings, has chosen to build on that progress by retaining the core of its project while adding three major reinforcements from other top teams in the Americas.
For the new season, MIBR announced on X a five-man lineup composed of Erick "aspas" Santos and Andrew "Verno" Maust, both already present in 2025, joined by Zachary "zekken" Patrone, the star Duelist from Sentinels, Roberto "Mazino" Rivas, and Ian "tex" Botsch. This roster fits neatly with earlier reports that predicted the continuation of the aspas–Verno duo and the arrival of three high-profile players who had previously impressed with Sentinels, KRÜ Esports and Leviatán.
Locking in the project for 2026
At the centre of this project, aspas remains the key piece. Signed at the end of 2024, the 2022 world champion immediately injected new momentum into the club, helping to carry it into the Champions playoffs in 2025. Keeping him was the organisation’s absolute priority; he continues to be positioned as the face of the project, supported by dedicated merchandise and branding built around the “FINAL BOSS” moniker, as well as its primary offensive engine.
Alongside him, Verno is also retained after confirming his importance in the in-game leader role, providing defensive stability and consistency throughout the season. Despite his young age, he is already regarded as one of the most promising IGLs in the Americas at the end of the year.
To surround this duo, MIBR have moved for three players already proven at the highest level. zekken arrives from Sentinels with several international seasons, a Masters Madrid 2024 title, and an established reputation as a Duelist capable of combining explosive entries with structured, supportive play on defence. Mazino joins after his time with KRÜ Esports, with whom he regularly attended international events, including the notable 2024 comeback run that secured qualification for Champions.
Finally, tex links up with the roster after his spell at Leviatán, where he had already formed a formidable trio alongside aspas and Mazino during the 2024 season, a year that included a VCT Americas Stage 2 title and a top-three finish at VALORANT Champions Seoul.
A blend of continuity for MIBR
The construction of this five reflects a clear strategy: build on the foundations laid in 2025 while significantly increasing the level of international experience and raw firepower. By reuniting the former Leviatán core of aspas, Mazino and tex, MIBR return to a structure that has already been tested at the top of the circuit, now complemented by zekken’s explosive profile and Verno’s reliability.
On the staff side, the guiding principle is stability. Daniel "fRoD" Montaner continues his work as head coach after overseeing the team’s rise in 2025, while Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer returns to the Americas after a 2025 season with NAVI as head coach and will now serve as assistant coach. With a five-man roster locked in, a consolidated staff and a 2025 season rich in lessons, MIBR will approach the VCT 2026: Americas Kickoff with a clear roadmap: turn this lineup into a credible contender for both regional titles and international trophies.
