The league will likely be reduced to eight teams, as for now five teams are out: Guasones, ZETA, Veni Vidi Vici, LUA Gaming, and RAMBOOT Club
The new organizer of the Spanish league, Lastlap, announced via a post on social media the opening of applications to welcome three new teams into the Spanish first division, while also confirming the retention of five teams: UCAM Esports and Barça eSports, as well as three academy squads, Los Heretics, GIANTX iTero, and Movistar KOI Fénix.
This announcement means the league will move to eight teams instead of the ten from previous years. As things stand, five teams are therefore out of the league: ZETA, Guasones, Veni Vidi Vici, LUA Gaming, and RAMBOOT Club. As of December 29, 2025, the Spanish league—one of the strongest ERLs—still lacks three teams.
An ecosystem that raises concerns
Last year, the Winter Split started on January 14, meaning in just over two weeks. The league therefore currently finds itself with three rosters still in limbo, three offseasons that have yet to be completed. On a L’Équipe broadcast, Nathan Laprade (player agent and founder of Tailors) notably pointed out this situation, explaining how a large part of the Spanish league was absent from the transfer market as it unfolded.
These three teams will therefore have very little time to build their rosters, assemble a coaching staff, and possibly even secure a gaming house or sponsors—everything that is supposed to support a team throughout the year to ensure peak performance—just to prevent the league’s overall level from dropping.
